Reading is part of literacy. Writing is part of literacy! They go hand-in-hand with what most students call English Language Arts or ELA. It’s important though that students realize this connection and they shouldn’t think of them as separate subjects. Text is written, hence “writing” so that people can “read” the words written on the pages.
